The Cincinnati Reds are one of the oldest franchises in the entire league but it has been a long time since the team was able to really compete in the modern days. In 2009 the Reds finished with a 78 and 84 record for yet another losing season, however there was good news in the form of a much improved ERA for the starting rotation. On top of that the team added prized prospect Aroldis Chapman in the offseason in what should be a move that takes the team to the next level.

There are many signs that point in the direction of 2010 being a breakout year for the Reds. The team is hoping that healthy seasons from players such as Jay Bruce can make the difference this year and that the starting rotation continues to improve on the whole. While there are very few people that believe Cincinnati will walk away with the NL Central championship, there are quite a few that believe the team will take many strides in the right direction.
