The La Serie del Caribe is more commonly known in English speaking countries as the Caribbean Series and usually takes part at the start of February annually. The tournament is participated by the countries of the Caribbean Confederation of Latin America with each country represented by the winning team of that domestic league. The four countries involved in the annual tournament are: Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Venezuela.

The 2009 la Serie del Caribe was won by Venezuelan side Tigres de Aragua with a 5-1 record, clinching its first Caribbean Series title as well as Venezuela’s seventh. The tournament also saw the return of Puerto Rico after the nation’s one-year hiatus, whilst New York Yankees minor league pitcher Fransisco Butto claimed the MVP award.

The 2010 la Serie del Caribe will be held in Margarita Island, Venezuela from February 2^nd to February 7^th 2010. However, the tournament could feature a set of new rules should Caribbean Confederation Commissioner Juan Francisco Puello have his way. Puello is contemplating fining players who take part in the Winter League finals but not in the Caribbean Series as well as changing the tournament structure from a round-robin format to a double-elimination set-up.

Columbia and Nicaragua are expected to join the la Serie del Caribe after a recent decision expected the two nations to join within the next four years, although the re-joining of Cuba was rejected after financial disagreements. Cuba and Panama were both involved in the original Serie del Caribe until it was disbanded when Fidel Castro came into power in Cuba. The league was then reformed in 1970.
