Manny Ramirez will finally return to big league action on Friday July 3rd as the Los Angeles Dodgers head into a three game series against the San Diego Padres at Petco Park. After a 50 game suspension for abusing the league’s substance abuse policy Ramirez will once again suit up for the Dodgers in an event that will be a spectacle to say the least. As it is the fourth of July the game was already sure to be sold out and thousands of Dodgers fans will be heading to San Diego to support their slugger.
There are also sure to be quite a few boos when Ramirez first takes the field as people really enjoying watching him play and were proud that he was not involved in any of the steroid abuse that was going on in the league the past, few years. There are many who feel that he should have been suspended for a much longer period of time, but just as many who are excited to see him return and play.
Ramirez’ suspension came after traces of the fertility drug human chorionic gonadotropin was found in his system, which is a clearly defined banned substance. The drug itself is pretty popular among steroid users as it can negate some of the side effects that come around after a person stops using steroids.
Since the suspension Ramirez has been very quiet as of late and is ready to return, start playing and put the incident behind him. He wants to prove that he belongs in the league and is still one of the best pure hitters in the league. He will get that chance starting on Friday, July 3rd. Whether he is still a little bit rusty remains to be seen, but the is one of the best hitters of our time so he should have no trouble getting back into the swing of things and helping the Dodgers play even better than they have over the past two months.
