New York Yankees Top Pre-Season Prediction List

Nick JohnsonWhile pre-season rankings are rarely ever creative or spot on once the season starts, they are excited to read about as the MLB season gets underway. The New York Yankees have once again topped another list of team rankings heading into the 2010 season and should be the odds on favorite to head all the way to the World Series.

While the Yankees have lost all stars such as Johnny Damon, the addition of players such as Nick Johnson and Javier Vazquez should make them as competitive as ever. That is, if everything goes right for them and injuries do not play a large role.

What might make it tough for the Yankees is the fact that 3 of the top 5 teams in the rankings are all playing within the American League East.

Right behind the Yankees in the rankings are the Boston Red Sox. The team made a commitment to become more defensively sound with the addition of players like Mike Cameron and Adrian Beltre. If John Lackey can continue to produce the team should challenge the Yankee for the AL East Crown.

Of course, the Tampa Bay Rays are following close behind in the 5th spot thanks to a core of young and impressive talent. With Carl Crawford and Carlos Pena leading the way, the Rays could once again surprise some people and push for a World Series appearance.

Two of the other top 5 teams come from the National League in the form of the St. Louis Cardinals and Philadelphia Phillies. Roy Halladay will be leading the Phillies while the Cardinals will continue to rely on Albert Pujols and Chris Carpenter.

No matter which teams can push through the season and challenge for a title, one thing is for sure. This 2010 MLB season is going to be a fun one to watch, and you can make sure you don’t miss a game by sticking right here on WatchLivebaseball.com.
