Some Early Fantasy Baseball Advice for 2009

Nyjer Morgan

With the 2009 MLB season well underway we are going to take at some numbers of some premier players that could help you in your quest for fantasy baseball dominance. Some of these guys are on a tear, but won't be for long and some are going to be viable keepers that you should build your team here around. From the surprising break out players to veterans on a torrid pace here is all the latest in live baseball news.

Toronto 2B, Aaron Hill; There is no proof that Hill will stay on his current pace for the whole season but he looks to be ready to compete with the best second base man in the league.

Los Angeles Dodgers 2B, Orlando Hudson; Orlando has been able to improve his batting average every year since 2003 and this season looks to be no different. He is flourishing in the Dodger line up and has 4 SB's to go along with his .351 average.

Detroit, 3B, Brandon Inge; now here is a guy that is off to an incredible start but you do not want to sell the farm to get your hands on him. Inge is one of the streakiest players in the league. If you do not have him, do not make a trade for him. If you do have him then trade him now for something worthwhile while he is hot.

Pittsburgh, LF, Nyjer Morgan; Morgan is a guy that is probably available on the waiver wire of your league. His current average of .329 will probably not stay high but he averaged .293 over 6 minor league seasons. In those seasons he was also able to steal 234 bases. Jump on this guy quickly and you could have a .300 average and 40 SB man to stash on your bench.

Seattle, LF, Endy Chavez; Chavez is another guy that is off to a hot start but is known as a streaky player. Adding him to your team, especially via trade is risky. He hasn’t been a regular starter since 2004 and that was only because he was playing for an incredibly weak Montreal Expos team. Stay away from this one unless you are desperate for outfield help due to injury.

While the information offered on these players is just a little taste, you are going to have to learn how to work the waiver wire if you want to become a fantasy baseball stud. Learn which players can remain consistent and hold on to them. Find the players that are streaky and trade them for valuable assets while they are hot. This is the key to making the most of you 2009 fantasy baseball season. Keep patrolling those waiver wires and good luck.
