Jim Thome had a career night on Friday and led the White Sox to victory over a struggling Baltimore Orioles team. It is hard enough to compete in the talent laden AL East as it is for the Orioles without having to deal with one of the best hitters of all time having a more than memorable night. Thome managed to belt his 9th career grand slam and also added a three run homer. That gave him a career best 7 RBI’s in the game and a total of 14 RBI’s in just the last three games.

It wasn’t all Thome on Friday as the White Sox managed to come out on top with a 12-8 victory over the Orioles. The two teams together compiled 27 hits in a game where the pitching could not hold any hitter at bay. The White Sox also got production from Paul Konerko who homered, Alexei Ramirez who had two RBI`s and Scott Podsednik who scored three runs in the game. Adam Jones and Nick Markakis led the way for Baltimore as they each hit 2 run home runs, but it was not enough on this night. The Orioles will be looking for revenge while Thome and the White Sox look to keep their offensive streak alive on Saturday July 18th. You can tune in and see what is sure to be an exciting game right here on WatchLiveBaseball.com

On Saturday the White Sox will turn to Mark Buehrle in what should be a much lower scoring affair. The Orioles will send out surprisingly efficient starter Brad Bergesen who has become their best pitcher on the year. Both pitchers should be able to keep the bats at bay, but you never know what may happen considering how these two teams are playing right now.
