The New York Yankees have been getting excellent pitching from their starters as of left and it is helping them make a charge to the top of the AL East and the Wild Card. If they continue to get excellent pitching then they should have no problem making it to the playoffs and deep into the playoffs. They are even getting quality pitching from unlikely sources as Sergio Mitre came through with a dominating performance on Tuesday as the Yankees won 6-4. The have now beaten the Orioles twice and will be looking to sweep them on Wednesday July 22nd in a game you can see on WatchLiveBaseball.com

Robinson Cano carried the offence with a two run home run and Mariano Rivera also came through with yet another save on the year. Mitre got his first win since 2008 after missing the year thanks to surgery and is looking to become a relevant player in the MLB. Alex Rodriguez also brought home 2 RBI`s and Nick Swisher and Johnny Damon also did their part. Rich Hill got the loss in the game after allowing five runs in just over three innings of work.

The Yankees appear to almost be unstoppable since the All Star break and are primed and ready to prove that they are the team to beat in the AL. With rumors swirling about the possible addition of another starter, maybe even Roy Halladay, the Yankees are getting ready for a serious run to the World Series this year. In fact anything less would be seen as a major disappointment.

The New York Yankees are on a roll and are finally getting the steady starting pitching that they had hoped for since the start of the season. They won another close game on Monday as they squeaked past the Baltimore Orioles in a tight and wild finish. Hideki Matsui homered in the bottom of the 9th to seal the victory and give the Yankees 4 straight victories since the all star break. For the Orioles it was just another heartbreaking loss on another disappointing season.

It was the third straight 2-1 victory for the Yankees as they got another great start from a pitcher. Andy Pettitte showed up with his best stuff and dominated the Orioles for the majority of the game. He allowed just 6 hits and one run over 7 innings of work and managed to strike out 8 Orioles. Eric Hinske homered in the second inning to tie the game at 1-1 after a homerun from Nick Markakis in the 1st.

Even though the score was 2-1 it was a wild game as there were two tight plays at the plate in the top of the 9th as the Orioles threatened to score more than a few times. The two teams from the AL East will battle it out once again on Tuesday July 21st in a game that will be streaming live right here on WatchLiveBaseball.com.

The Orioles will send out young Rich Hill while the Yankees will send out unproven Sergio Mitre thanks to an injury to Chien Ming-Wang. It should turn out to be a more high scoring affair as the Yankees look to keep their win streak alive and the Orioles try to play spoiler, a position they have become accustomed to over the years.

The New York Yankees are right on track after the All Star break as they combined timely hitting with consistent pitching to sweep aside the powerful Detroit Tigers. In the final game of the series on Sunday the Yankees turned to Joba Chamberlain and he turned in a dazzling performance as the Yankees won by a score of 2-1. Alex Rodriguez and Mark Teixeira both homered on the day to seal the victory.

The Baltimore Orioles are struggling to stay out of the basement in the AL East and would love to play the spoiler against the Yankees on Monday July 20th and for the rest of the series. The Orioles are coming off a win as the disposed of the Chicago White Sox on Sunday thanks to a big time performance from Gregg Zaun and consistent pitching from Jeremy Guthrie. However they will be in for a much bigger test against the Yankees who are looking to move into top spot in the AL East. The Yankees should be able to put aside the Orioles and extend their winning streak to a healthy number. If the Orioles lose a few games then they might cement their place in the bottom of the division for the rest of the year.

On Monday July 20th the Orioles will send out young David Hernandez to try and curb the Yankees offence. The Yankees will look to veteran Andy Pettitte who has been quite inconsistent on the season. If Pettitte can start to turn things around then the Yankees will be an even more dangerous team. The team needs to find another starter that can shut down opposing teams behind AJ Burnett and C.C Sabathia and Pettitte would love nothing more than to be that guy. The New York Yankees are on fire. They won a pivotal series against the AL East leading Toronto Blue Jays and then faced the Minnesota Twins and swept them right through the series. All the stars are starting to align for this high priced and high powered team and next up is the Baltimore Orioles. The Orioles have struggled so far this season, as was predicted and the Yankees are looking to take advantage.

While the Yankees thought that their sweep of the Twins would help them catch the division leading Jays, it was not quite the case. The Jays were able to sweep the White Sox as well, so New York was unable to catch any ground. That is why this series is so pivotal for the Yankees. Almost the entire division plays each other this week as the Yankees take on the Baltimore Orioles and the Blue Jays take on the Boston Red Sox. If the Yankees could continue their streak and get some wins against Baltimore then they are sure to catch up some ground on either Boston or Toronto. New York has won 6 straight games but still sit 4.5 games back of the Blue Jays and yes just one game back of the Red Sox.

If the Blue Jays can dismantle the Sox then the Yankees could move into second place, or if the Red Sox take apart the Blue Jays the Yankees could climb closer to first place with a few victories over the Orioles. It has been said a few times so far this season, but this is an exciting week for baseball fans with a few very pivotal games including the one where the Baltimore Orioles face the New York Yankees on Tuesday May 19. You can see this pivotal game of course by tuning in right here at WatchLiveBaseball.com
