The Cleveland Indians were finally able to scrape out a win and put an end to another one of the New York Yankees winning streaks. After losing the first two games of the four game set, the Indians clawed their way back to a late inning victory and will look to split the series on Monday, June 1^st.

Johnny Peralta knocked in the game winning run in the ninth inning of a 5-4 victory in a much needed victory. Peralta singled which scored Trevor Crowe as the Yankees were finally on the losing end of a walk off victory, after putting quite a few together of their own. Peralta had quite a game with three hits and three RBI's in the game and Kerry Wood came away with the victory to even his record to 2 and 2. For the Yankees Mark Teixeira drove in all 4 runs including a powerful 2 run homerun. Texieira has been on a tear as of late and is finally proving that he was worth the massive contract he signed in the off season.

The Indians got a quality start again from Carl Pavano who is 5 and 1 in May and the offense came through just when it was needed. Phil Hughes was unable to be as dominating as he was in his last start as he allowed 4 runs over 5 innings. The Yankees had a few chances to break the game open, including in the 9^th against Wood, but were unable to get the clutch hit. On Monday June 1^st, the Yankees will try and win the series 3-1 but the Indians would like nothing more than to split the series 2-2. It has been a really tough weekend for the Cleveland Indians so far. They were really hoping to prove themselves against the powerful New York Yankees but that has not happened, and now they have been struck by the injury bug as well. After losing on Friday night by a score of 3-1, the Indians were blown out by a score of 10-5 on Saturday. On top of that all star catcher Victor Martinez was forced to leave the game with an undisclosed injury.

The Yankees continue to be on fire as of late and are trying to pull away and build on their lead in the AL East. It does not appear that anyone can stop them right now. C.C Sabathia turned in another quality start and guys like Jorge Posada and Nick Swisher provided all the power. It was an even more disheartening loss for the Indians as Sabathia is a former teammate that chose to leave for more money.

The two teams will wrap up their series on Sunday as young stud Phil Hughes toes the rubber for the Yankees and the Indians send out veteran Carl Pavano. Neither pitcher has been incredibly dominant or really that bad this season. Pavano has the stuff to baffle the Yankees and the Indians could really lose a victory. A series sweep by the Yankees would put them far out of playoff contention in a hole that may be too deep to climb out of. The Cleveland Indians headed into their season with the New York Yankees in hopes of proving to the rest of the league that they were the real deal. That their recent winning streak was not a fluke and they were ready to prove themselves against the best. However, the Yankees were not willing to let that happen and with their victory on Friday night, they moved into first place in the AL East for the first time this season.

Jorge Posada made a triumphant return to the starting lineup for the Yankees as he delivered he went 2 for 3 with a double on the Game. Mark Teixera, Derek Jeter and Nick Swisher all drove in a run as the Yankees took the game by a score of 3-1. Andy Pettite turned in another dominating performance and is really turning back the hands of time and proving that he can be an all star pitcher for a few more years to come. The bad news for the Yankees was that Pettite was forced to leave after five innings due to an apparent back injury, no word on the severity yet.

The Indians were unable to get anything going through all nine innings and their 4 game win streak was snapped. They desperately need to bounce back with a win on Saturday May 30 if they want to have any hope of competing in the AL Central. They will throw inconsistent starter Fausta Carmona out to the mound Saturday to take on proven veteran C.C Sabathia.
