The St Louis Cardinals have emerged as a powerhouse so far in this 2009 MLB season and have started to set themselves apart for the pack in the National League. Even with all star pitcher Chris Carpenter injured, the pitching has been top notch and they have been getting clutch hitting exactly when they need it. Joel Pineiro and Kyle Lohse have both bounced back from poor seasons and become to very reliable pitchers and it has helped put the team atop of the National League.

The Cardinals looked to continue their impressive run against the Milwaukee Brewers this weekend but the first game of the series was rained out on Friday night. The Cardinals were up 2-0 in the second inning but lost that advantage after the game was cancelled due to rain. The two teams will continue their series on Saturday in what will prove to be quite an exciting match up. Of course you can see all the action and every pitch right here on WatchLiveBaseball.com

The Milwaukee Brewers have also been quite a surprise this year and are tied with the Cardinals for the NL central lead. After losing all start pitchers C.C Sabathia and Ben Sheets many predicted that the team would be unable to compete with the big teams this year. That has not happened as the team has continued to use its youthful edge to patch together a few nice winning streaks. While it would be unfair to say that these two teams are bitter rivals, every time they meet it is a battle. It will be a very exciting match up to say the least and the whole series will have a major impact on the NL Central standings. The Milwaukee Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals are in a battle for the top spot in the NL Central as they take on each other on Saturday May 16th.
