What a series so far. The New York Yankees have won both games of their series with the Minnesota Twins so far, but the games have been more than exciting. On Saturday night the Yankees pulled off an extra inning, thrilling win thanks to a late Alex Rodriguez home run. The Twins have struggled to put together a full game so far and the Yankees have been able to capitalize on every opportunity.

On Friday night the Yankees also pulled off a late inning win over the Twins and are now riding a 4 game and looking to climb back to the top of the AL East. Unless the Twins can turn things around soon they risk falling even further back in the AL Central as they have now slipped below .500 on the season. The major bright spot for the Twins this season has been Justin Morneau who has been the complete package. However it has not been enough so far against the New York Yankees as the team is finally getting healthy, getting clutch hitting and getting the pitching they expected from their big free agent signings. The New York Yankees are officially back. The super team has started to get health back on its side and the high priced superstars are starting to get comfortable in their new surroundings. While players like Nick Swisher have been contributing all season long, the pitching rotation has been unreliable and inconsistent. That seems to all be changing with the Yankees big series win over the AL east leading Toronto Blue Jays.

Both Andy Pettite and C.C Sabathia turned in dominating performances against the best offense in the league and Chien Ming Wang should return to the rotation soon as well. Once he does, and once the Yankees start to get more consistent, they could once again become a powerhouse in the league. Their next match up comes on Friday May 15^th against the Minnesota Twins.

Speaking on consistency, the Twins have been unable to find any of it so far in this 2009 season. They have been up and down all season long and have been unable to put a real winning streak together.
