What's unique about this game is that the Detroit Tigers will be playing in honor of Ernie Harwell, the Hall of Fame broadcaster that passed just last week. Johnny Damon will face the Yanks at Comerica Park honoring the man, who was in broadcasting fifty five years and spend forty two of those broadcasting for the Tigers. This is the first time that the Tigers and the Yankees have met in 2010, but New York dominated last season whenever they got together, taking five out of six games played.

However, dynamics have changed somewhat, For one thing, Johnny Damon is now playing for Detroit. Also, after winning the 27th World Series, the Yanks got Curtis Granderson from Detroit and sent off Austin Jackson to play for the Tigers. Damon himself is playing left field and DI for the Tigers. Another prospect is Marcus Thames, who is batting .394 right now.
