The offense once again came alive for the New York Yankees but Andy Pettitte and the rest of the pitching staff could not hold down another victory. The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim came out flying and polished off the Yankees by a score of 14-8 in a slugfest. Even though Hideki Matsui, Alex Rodriguez and Eric Hinske hit two home runs it was not enough for the Yankees. Mike Napoli, Howie Kendrick and Chone Figgins all contributed in their on way while Brandon Wood belted a two run home run to eventually chase Pettitte from the game and seal the victory for the Angels.

The victory was very big for the Angels as they are now poised to lead the AL West heading into the All Star break. The lose may ensure that the Yankees continue to trail the Boston Red Sox in the AL East, but they still have plenty of time to make an impact in the second half of the season. The good news for the Yankees is that their offense is on fire and maybe the break will allow their pitchers to get some time off and get back on track. Pettitte and Joba Chamberlain are the two pitchers that are struggling most at the moment and are looking forward to the much needed rest.
On Sunday, July 12th the Yankees will hope to get an impact start from C.C Sabathia who has shown some consistency as of late. The Angels will counter with star pitcher John Lackey in the hopes that they can move into first place in the NL West. Both pitchers will have their hands full trying to shut down the opposing teams hitters especially with both teams hitting so many home runs as of late. It is unlikely that the game will be a pitchers duel but it will be an exciting game to say the least. You can catch every minute by tuning in right here on WatchLiveBaseball.com. The New York Yankees jumped up to another quick start on Friday night as they took a 3-0 lead in the first inning of their game against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. However the game would not turn out to be easy at all as the Angels came storming back and were able to tie the game at five at the midway mark. They continued to push and took a 7-5 lead thanks to some potent offensive play in the 5th and 6th innings.

Both the Yankees and the Angels are in the exact same position as they trail in their divisions by just a half game. With that said this is a crucial series for each team and a series win could move either of them into first place before the All Star break.
On Saturday, July 11th the Angels will turn to start Jered Weaver who is having an excellent year but has never really been able to shut down the Yankees. Weaver is 9-3 on the year but has an ERA of over 6 when you look at past starts against New York. The Yankees will send out Andy Pettitte who has been outstanding in certain games this year and very lacklustre in other games .He is 8-4 on the season which is impressive but could have a much better record if it were not for his poor command during some important games.
It will be an entertaining game to say the least as both teams battle to end the first half of the season a good note.
