There are three games scheduled this weekend for the Boston Red Sox who are hosting the Seattle Mariners, and the first game that they will play will start at 7:10PM and the only pitcher that has been announced so far is Daisuke Matsuzaka for the home team. The second game this weekend is going to be on Saturday, April 30th and it starts at 7:10PM. The visitors have not announced a pitcher but John Lackey will pitch for the Red Sox on Saturday. Finally, the two teams meet for the last time this week on Sunday May 1st at 1:35PM.

The Seattle Mariners have the bottom spot in the American League West standings, and they have earned that spot with a disappointing season so far. They have just eight wins and nearly twice as many losses at fifteen. That only gives them a winning percentage of .348 and they are seven games from taking the table. As for the Red Sox, they are in a much better position, right in the middle of the American League East standings below leader the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay. They have won 10 games and lost 11 so far.

The Boston Red Sox are taking charge of the AL East and are running away with the division. The have been unstoppable in the past few weeks and will look to continue the trend against the Seattle Mariners on Saturday, July 4th. While division rivals Toronto and New York square off together this is the perfect opportunity to increase their already large lead.

On July 3rd the Red Sox battled it out with the Mariners and managed to take the game to extra innings but were unable to come away with the victory. The Mariners pulled away with a 7-6 win. In the game, starter Tim Wakefield became the franchise leader in starts but was not celebrating after the game. Roman Ramirez was saddled with the loss as Rob Johnson doubled in the 11th inning to seal the win for Seattle. Boston will look to bounce back on Saturday, July 4th.
In the game Boston will be sending Brad Penny to the mound to take on Seattle starter Garrett Olson. Penny has been quite steady on the season and will be expected to shut down the Mariners and get the Red Sox off to a good start in July. While Olson is expected to start and has been improving lately, there is a chance that injured starter Erik Bedard could take the mound. The Boston Red Sox are constantly building their lead in the AL East and look to make it even larger on Saturday, July 4th in a game against the Seattle Mariners.
